DirecTV
Overcharged on Pay Per View Orders Before Reconnecting Phone

TV & Radio

After moving on April 3, I failed to reconnect my phone line. After two movies I could no longer order with my remote. My June bill was for $82.87. I reconnected the phone line. I figured I would get a charge for the two movies. In 14 years I have never been late, so I figured I would get a credit the next month. Big mistake. I had tried to order several more times before reconnecting, and I was overcharged for every attempt, about $120.

Customer service was very rude, including one service manager who hung up on me. They acknowledged the error, but it took one week and 5 calls to get a partial credit. The problem was acknowledged from the first call, but they were not willing to correct it until I talked with the third supervisor. The second one even hung up on me.

The biggest problem is that they acknowledged the error from the first call but were not willing to correct it, even for a 14 year customer who has always paid on time and never had a real problem. And they call themselves customer service reps? There is too little competition, and the alternatives, Comcast and Dish, are no better.
