WIndstreamn: unwanted security suite added to bill - Windstream internet and phone service

I've had Windstream for two years and have had no problems or complaints. Four months ago I moved to a new home within my town and had my service moved with me. No issues. When I sat down at my computer today, after having had a power outage last night, I was unable to get online until I went through some kind of Windstream setup process that included downloading and installing a file called windstream_pro_spd. Exe. When I installed it I was informed that I had a "Windstream Security Suite" that I pay for but had never installed or used and was prompted to do so.
This was news to me, I never ordered a security suite. I run my own anti-virus, do my own backup and simply have no need for a $9.99 a month additional service from Windstream. This service was added without my permission. I looked over my old bills and see it's been billed for the last 4 months - ever since my move.
I called Windstream and they told me they could credit the latest $9.99 from my bill but none of the others, despite the fact that I never ordered the service and never even installed it. Oh... And they "normally" charge a $5 fee to add and remove services but they would waive that fee. (Where is the $5 fee for when I supposedly added it? Not there.)
I think some unscrupulous employee added it to my bill to get a bonus or commission or whatever they get for adding on these services, and because I didn't inspect my bill closely, I've been stuck paying for it.
So - beware. Watch your bill carefully, because Windstream is capable of adding services without permission at any time, apparently.
