Windstream / Nuvox did not close my account and kept billing me

I left Nuvox now Windstream in April. I sent them a cancellation letter by fax and email. Unfortunately my accounting department did not know and kept paying the bill. All most a year later I found out and call Windstream about this problem. Thinking I resolved this issue Windstream is still sending me monthly bills. Windstream does not have common sense. I am still trying to cancel my account.
