I have been a customer with Directv for about 10 years. I have been paying $5.99 for warranty service for my DVR and it started screwing up so I called them. They talked me into getting the upgraded DVR. I specifically asked the lady if my bill would be increased and she said no it would stay the same. The installation guy told me that he would see that I didn't have to pay the $49 for installation because all he had to do was unhook ONE cable from the old DVR and hook the one cable to the new DVR which took him about 5 minutes. My problem is they still charged me the $49 and the raised my monthly fee. THEY FLAT OUT LIED even though I see commercials on TV that claim free installation for new customers ALL THE TIME. Now I'm stuck (for 2 years) paying over $100 per month for service that I only use a small portion of. I'm not a sports fan and come on, how many news channels does a person need? I only watch about 80 channels out of the hundreds I'm charged for. I called and talked to a supervisor and she did nothing. Their contract only works for them. You can't break it but they can. I would recommend to everyone to stay as far away from DirecTV as possible, IT SUCKS and they lie threw their teeth.
