Hotels.com would not honor their "price match guarantee" even though I found a cheaper price on the Internet through the hotels on website

Traveling & Tourism

I made a reservation through hotels.com for Henley Park Hotel in Washington DC. When I discovered that Henley Park hotels website advertised a cheaper rate for for the hotel with breakfast included, I emailed hotels.com and asked that they honor their advertised price match guarantee. I received a response by email saying I should contact hotels.com by phone. I spoke to a consumer agent at hotels.com by phone. She was foreign and very hard to understand, but I did understand her to say that the reservation was nonrefundable. I informed her I did not want a refund, I just wanted a price matched. Next, I asked to speak to her supervisor. After a long pause the supervisor who identified himself as Ivan came on the phone. He repeated the same thing that the agent had told me earlier that the hotel charge was nonrefundable and therefore did not qualify for the price match guarantee. Again I argued my point I did not want a refund I just simply wanted him to honor the price match guarantee policy and issue a partial refund to match the price that I found on the Internet. He again argued that the price was nonrefundable.
