Missed night in Paris

Booked 4 tickets through Orbitz for a flight originating here in the US to Italy with continuing connections from Southern Italy to Paris via Berlin's Tegel airport. On the day of departure from souther Italy to Paris, we found that the flight from southern Italy to Berlin was no longer displayed on the carrier's (Air Berlin) website. Upon further investigation, we found that the only available flight that day to Berlin would arrive after our original connecting flight to Paris had departed. We contacted the carrier (Air Berlin) and reserved seats the following morning to continue to Paris. According to Air Berlin, there was a change to the schedule and our earlier flight to Berlin had been cancelled a number of months ago. Unfortunately for us, Orbitz failed to contact us. Due to the change in flights and the failure of Orbitz to contact us, we incurred additional costs of over $300.00 USD for hotel and meal costs.in addition to the monetary costs, we spending a night in Paris as originally planned and had little sleep due to the early Berlinto Paris flight (6:15 AM) the following morning. Upon returning to the US, I contacted Orbitz customer service about the issue. After speaking to numerous Oribtz customer service staff members, they admitted their failure to contact us concerning the flight change but offered a single voucher for $100 USD. Their offer equates to $25.00 USD for each family member to use on a future Orbitz reservation. At this time, I refused to accept the voucher due to never planning to use Orbitz again and am in the process of contacting their corporate offices to escalate the issue.
