Jet Blue Airlines
Expired credit

Traveling & Tourism

In July Jet Blue cancelled my flight. They encouraged me to accept a full credit to use "at any time, to go anywhere, for anyone". I agreed to accept the credit instead of a refund. I used part of it last year, without any problem. However, when I attempted to use part of the credit today, I was informed it was expired - thus Jet Blue is keeping the rest of my money and refusing to grant me the credit. As an infrequent flyer, had I known there was an expiration I would have insisted on a refund for the cancelled flight. I can understand an expiration if I had voluntarily cancelled my flight, but to deny me a credit because I did not use it within a year for a flight Jet Blue cancelled makes no sense - as they have had the use of my money all this time and have no reason to deny my credit. When I asked for further consideration, they claimed that somewhere in the fine print of their policy they have a right to keep my money and not extend the credit beyond 1 year and they were sticking to their policy and that no further consideration at any level of the company would be available to me. Again, nobody in Jet Blue ever informed me of this restriction. Be warned, always take a refund and do not trust Jet Blue with your money in the form of a credit.
