I am a former sales director at Henryetta Inn and Dome. My job was to increase business utilizing sales and marketing techniques. My other job duties were to function as a front desk person in the event staff could not be present.

In fact, I was supposed to "master" the front desk. I was hired before the Thanksgiving holiday and was told to increase business for the Thanksgiving dinner as well as for the upcoming Christmas and New Years holidays. I was told to spread the word, get the message out, perform my duties as a sales director. My complaint is I was "let go" becuase I did not do this. Let me rephrase that. I could not do this. Let me explain. I had a total of 5 days in less than 2 months to accomplish this task.

The days I was not performing as sales director, I was sitting at the front desk as a staff person. I could not leave the desk. It was difficult or not possible to increase business and spread the word about the hotel. I did what I could which included handed out flyers, word of mouth. I even placed a large ad advertising the upcoming events on a very popular real estate website that I manage. If that was not enough, I was faced with objection city becuase of the bad reputation of the hotel.

On top of that, I was faced with marketing the hotel with very old fashioned techniques. The hotel owner had no interest in using non-traditional means to advertise. I was treated unfairly to do my job - market the hotel and meet their goals. To hand out stacks and stacks of flyers in 5 days (one day it was pouring rain and sleet) was unfair.

Many times, I was the sales director on my own time. My pay for my troubles: $500 every 2 weeks, overcome impossible objections, very little support from management, marketing the hotel on my own time and using my own resources, tell employees I am sorry for a messy hotel, worked on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

I even bounced in the bar to break up fights. As of now, I am doing very well in the world of business, especially in marketing. I was "let go" unfairly and I am seeking a letter of recommendation for the good I brought to Henryetta Inn and Dome. That is all I ask. I also advise anyone who is seeking employment at this hotel or planning events, do some research. I have to say to those I did have correspondence with, I am sorry I could not conclude a business agreement with you.
