Fraud gift card

We booked and paid for a cruise thru BJ'S Travel and and were promised a $75 gift card for the booking. We were unable to go on the cruise because my dad passed away on the day the ship was leaving. It was bad enough that we didn't buy the insurance and lost over $3200 for the cruise and an off shore excursion for 4 people for another $250.00. We paid for everything and they didn't and wouldn't work with us even under such extreme circumstances as a death in the family. We came to terms with that and accepted that we should have bought insurance but the worse is when I called for the $75.00 gift card BJ's Travel said they wouldn't give us the gift card because we didn't get on the ship. What we don't understand is why it matters to them weather we went or not. They got paid by the cruise line their commission, REALLY UNFAIR. Untrustworthy. Scam. Even their recording saids book a cruise with us and get a gift card.instead what they should say you get a gift card but if don't go on your trip in addition to their commission they will keep your gift card.
