I couldn't find a place to write a review on the Expedia website, so I'll do it here. I had a terrible experience using Expedia and would like to share it with other travelers as a warning.

Due to a death in the family, I had to book a hotel on short notice. I spent about two hours looking at hotels and reading reviews to be sure I found the best value for my money. I selected a hotel with good user reviews and booked it. The next morning, while traveling, I received a call from an Expedia representative telling me the hotel was overbooked and requesting to relocate me to a new hotel. The representative said he had located a hotel a mile away from the other hotel and it was comparable in price and user reviews. I agreed to the change since I didn't have the chance to read reviews as I was traveling. Once I got to the hotel, I immediately noticed that it was a "long term stay" hotel with numerous undesirable people living there. Within my first 10 minutes at the hotel, people in the room next door were arguing and continued to argue for hours, well into the night. The next night, there were people screaming and arguing from about 11pm until 3am, when another guest requested that they quiet down. A huge argument ensued, with people threatening to slit each others throats, and people coming to the room next to mine, pounding on the door, and calling each other on to fight, resulting in police being called. Needless to say, I felt very unsafe. I called Expedia, booked another hotel, and was told to check out of this hotel in the morning then call Expedia for a refund. I did just that. I have now spent 2 weeks and over 5 hours on the phone with Expedia and have been denied a refund for the 3 other nights I had booked at the hotel. Expedia for some reason does not want to accept responsibility for relocating me to a substandard hotel (I read reviews on the hotel later and NEVER would have agreed to stay there had I read the reviews beforehand) and they have left me high and dry to try to work out a refund with the hotel. This poor customer service has left a bad taste in my mouth and left me determined to not use Expedia again.
