I booked a hotel with Expedia. As I did I asked if there was a cancellation fee. The agent said, "No." However when I had to cancel, due to illness, they said that Expedia does not charge a fee but the hotel might. Expedia spoke with the hotel for me and sadly reported that the hotel would not refund my money. Then I spoke with the hotel directly and they had a different story. Expedia, long before I ever booked had paid for the hotel room. If no one had booked that room, the hotel would still have been paid by Expedia.in reality it was Expedia who was charging me for the room, not this specific hotel. The hotel didn't have my credit card number. It was Expedia who should give me my money back. When I spoke with an Expedia supervisor she refused to refund my money in any way. What a sorry way to treat customers—the customer must pay for services never received. Who wants to do business with such a company? Who wants to work for such a company?
