Travelocity
Suspect Fraud in booking airline travel

Traveling & Tourism

Using the Internet I purchased a round-trip airline ticket using a link in an ad sent to my email from Travelocity on 12/05/08.

In reading the information regarding fees I found that should it be necessary for me to change my flight to another one I would be charged $30. I felt this was a fair amount for their services.

My trip needed to be cancelled because the person I was going to visit would not be available. I telephoned Travelocity at their 888 travelocity number and asked for the ticket to be cancelled and a credit placed on my account. After much discussion the agent for Travelocity told me they would place a $250 credit on my account.

He then explained that when I go to use this credit I will be charged a fee of $180. The man and I discussed it over and over to be sure I understood what he was telling me. He confirmed what I understood that in order to use my $250 credit with Travelocity I would be charged a fee of $180.

I was horrified that a company would be permitted to do this to a person. Is this something the F.B.I. Could assist me with? Is there another government agency who can help me at least get the use of my credit? The person I was speaking with had an accent and it was my assumption he was off shore working for this company. Now my concern is that because Travelocity is based in another country there is no recourse.

I am devestated by this and feel as thought I have been robbed. Is there any assistance available for me?
