Daytona Hotels By Ocean Water The Islander
Extremely dissapointing

We live in Orlando and visit Daytona frequently. We booked the hotel the morning of our trip and when we arrived the hotel was nothing like the website offered. The additional charges hit me first, parking $5.00 a day and $1.50 for the safe regardless of use, late check out charge $10.00 per hour, $5.00 for each key not returned. This is rediculous at a place like this. The breakfast consisted of 5 prepackaged items. I booked my reservation with their reservation desk who said a refrigerator and microwave would be in the room. When I arrived I was told not in a standard room. I did not request a standard room. The website offers very little information about the rooms and no indication regarding the extra fees.

The bed sheets had blood stains and hair on them. I was offered a different set to change myself or to change rooms at 10:00pm. The walls in the room were only half painted and mold infested. The carpet, walls and bed pillows all were lumpy. The ocean view rooms overlooked a lot where a building was demolished.

Maintenance put caution tape across the hot tub and the pool on Sunday morning at 9:00am. When we asked why this was there he explained he was going to paint the deck and didnt want it to get wet. (Monday through Thursday during off season may have been a better time for him to do this.) We had already paid for a late checkout so we could stay and swim. We stayed until 1:00 pm and never saw the paint. He was doing nothing but he did chase people away when they swam at that end. Beautiful layout but sadly neglected.
