Ripoff-charged for tickets didn't know we had, forfeited our tix, still charged AMEX ripoff internet

I put in a bid for airline tickets. Waited 15 minutes for a response, but didn't receive one so I booked tix directly through airline.

A few weeks later I got an e-mail from priceline regarding my tickets that I purchased. When I called to dispute, they said they would not issue a refund or reissue the tickets.

The tickets were subsequently forfeited but Priceline still charged me over $1,100 for them. I tried to get Delta to issue the tickets (Priceline booked the tix on Delta) but they said they were unable to do anything because it was not booked through the airline. So, now

I'm out $1,100 and I have nothing to show for it except for a generous contribution to Priceline and their deceptive practices.
