Alaska Airlines 5 Gave a $25.00 voucher and then charged $10.00 to use it! Seattle Washington

My husband flew to visit us (he currently lives and works in California) on May 31.

His flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems with the plane so Alaska Airlines gave all of the passengers a $6.00 meal voucher and a $25.00 voucher to use on their next flight.

The problem with the $25.00 voucher is that if the customer wishes to use it they HAVE to go to a ticket agent, which is an inconvenience for the customer but then Alaska Air charges the customer $10.00 for the privilege of speaking with a live, breathing person.

So then the "value" of the voucher is now $15.00 instead of the original $25.00 and after calling the airline and speaking with their (ha-ha) customer service person there is NO satisfaction with this company.

The customer service rep said well then you get to use $15.00 dollars toward your ticket price like we should be happy we even got that, or put it towards getting a 1,000 bonus miles on the airline's mileage plan but it takes soooo MANY miles to be able to use them to go anywhere that 1,000 bonus miles are worth anything.

I think that if the company is offering their customers a $25.00 voucher then the amount the customer can use toward their flight should be the whole $25.00 and not being nickled and dimed to death by the company's sneaky tactics to reduce what you get to use, or the vouchers should be able to be used to order tickets online (no charge for using the internet, yet)

But for now we're holding onto our vouchers hoping that Alaska Air will see the light of the great Customer Service Faux Pax
