Lied about financial requirements and then refused to return money, ripoff

In 1998, I was contacted about taking a vacation to Branson, and told all I needed to do was take a brief tour of Fairfield Resorts. I didn't mind doing that, and we were planning to make a trip to Branson the next year anyway, so figured to save money.

Since I knew there were financial requirements on most deals like this, I enquired. When I heard the required annual income and knew we did not qualify, I told them. The girl quickly asked if we owned land, and said that ownership fact would make us qualify. So I agreed and told my bank information for an electronic check, made out to Apex Marketing.

When we were contacted later for a follow-up, I was asked if we met the financial requirements. I explained what we had been told, only to be informed that it was incorrect information. Only people of retirement age can use the ownership factor.

Since I could not use it because we did not qualify, I asked for my money back. At that time I was told that they did not offer money back for any reason. I even asked to speak to someone at a higher level, only to be told the same thing. I said, "So what am I supposed to do if I can't use it and can't get my money back?"

At that point she told me to lie about our income, as she said they don't check anyway. I don't do business that way, so we just paid for our own way to Branson another way.
