We experienced the same thing. During a private sales session, we were told that Fairfield Resorts would sell the timeshare if ever needed.in fact, they indicated that proof of this was the fact that I was buying someone else's timeshare. (A bunch of timeshares were being sold off by a large company.)

We had a medical need that created a financial strain. We called our initial salesperson and he said he couldn't help us. He was rude, short, and claimed that they don't do resales. We told him that he said they did, and that he told us were were buying a previously owned membership off a special list.

Next, he told us what our anniversary date was, and that we couldn't call or make plans until that date, except for the free trip we earned for buying a timeshare. Turns out, the date we were given (6 months from the signing of papers) was the END of our first year of membership, and in fact, we lost half of year of VIP membership.

Last, but not the end of our complaints and their lies..., we asked about Fairfield Resorts in our local area and were told there was a new one in the city we wanted. We told our salesman that was the deciding factor for us to buy. As soon as we were allowed, we called to reserve some time at that location. We were told they no longer served Fairfield and had not done so for quite a while. (Basically, proofing that we were again lied to.)

We are very frustrated!
