Had to pay for same tix twice

I purchased 3 round trip tix from spirit for my grandchildren to meet me at Disney. When they arrived at the airport they were told it was too late to board I was not there so I can't dispute it. They were never offered any other flights and my son-in-law had to drive to another airport and spent $1000.00 on new tix. On the thurs before the return trip I called to confirm and was told the reservation was cancelled I had to repay for the same tix on the same flight at a higher price (715.00) I have been fighting for the last year with spirit, cheapair and Am. Ex. Whenever I speak to someone on the phone they agree that this is a very unfair practice but nothing has been I feel this is so unfair spirit should have atleast given us tix for a later trip. I hope someone can help me
