Hotels.com Scam

On 6/10 Hotels.com tickets were purchased for Residence Inn by Marriot in Clearwater. The dates were 7/17-7/24 @ $75.59 per night. Hotels.com was able to change the dates to 7/24-7/31 but @ $125.99 per night (an increase of $400). I am paying the same price as if I booked with Marriot myself - where is the discount? Since the rooms were available for those dates, I should have been able to keep the discount. Whether I cancelled or changed my resevation, Hotels.com would end up with $1,219.70. Hotels.com change the dates, but felt this was their opportunity to charge us an extra $400. The Cancellation Policy in the confirmation contract they sent to me by email does not state Hotels.com will charge me additional monies for a change or cancellation. Is this a scam?!
