Mail in rebate

I purchased the broadband intenet service on 12-24-09, there is excellent service, the problem is the mail in rebate i sent it in 1-25-10, it came back saying it wa denied, and i needed a purchase receipt. My question is should i send the oringinal receipt o just a copy.
