Mail-In Rebate Denied, Asked Whether to Send Original Receipt

I purchased the broadband internet service on 12-24-09, there is excellent service, the problem is the mail in rebate I sent it in 1-25-10, it came back saying it was denied, and I needed a purchase receipt. My question is should I send the original receipt or just a copy.
