Ripoff I was told I would be given a cash refund for 2 items totaling $282.80 but wasn't given one Kansas City

I went into the Petco store on Nov. 5 2004 and was returning 2 aquarium pumps that I hadn't used or even opened. I wanted a cash refund. I was told by the manager Jo that they did not have enough cash on hand to give me a refund that early in the day, it was 10:30 am. She told me to return in the afternoon which I did.

When I returned to get my refund I was told by Jo the store manager that their district manager (they did not give me a name) told them that all they could give me was a gift certificate because I had returned too many items lately even though I had my receipts for these items. I do not have a job and my unemployment just ran out and I just bought 2 other pumps from another company because they were half the price of what I paid at Petco and was going to use the money that I was going to get back from Petco to pay for these. They said they would only issue me a gift certificate.

I don't want a gift certificate for $282.80. That is alot of money and further more I don't plan on ever shopping at Petco again! There is nothing posted in their store or on their receipts that states that if you return too many items in a short period of time that they won't give you cash back anymore.
