Scam! Ripoff, deceptive, misleading

I "signed up" (for lack of better term) my 4 year old son with Starbiz Entertainment for modeling. I responded via an ad in the newspaper. Well the day we went in, after being there for 2 minutes, I was told that they would call me back (if they were interested) on Thursday to set up his photo shoot.

Well lo and behold, I got a phone call from Melette Clayton on Thursday asking if I would come in and talk to her because they wanted to "sign my son".

So a couple days later I go in and she tells me, "Your son has exactly what we are looking for. I was pretty hesitant because I guess it just sounded too good to be true. So I asked Melette "Are there any guarantees for ANYthing?" She told me that we are "guaranteed" 1 photo shoot. I asked, "Approximately how much does 1 photo shot pay?" She replied, "Anywhere from $750 on up." Well the reason I asked this was to be sure I could justify the $495 cost for signing him up. So I agreed.

I got a phone call Starbiz setting up his appointment to get his headshots done. This was done at a children's resale clothing shop. I was under the impression (because nothing had been explained to me), that this was his "first paying gig". So about 7 weeks later I finally called Melette and asked her where my son's pay was. Oh, this was free. It was just to get his headshots! Well now my son is in a store catalog that was mailed out to who knows how many homes..., and he did it for free!? That is not right! So to make a long story short, that is my last contact with Starbiz. They have never called for any opportunities etc.

So tonight I am looking at my paperwork from all this and I find my "Promotional Agreement" from Starbiz isn't quite right either. First of all the year says 2002 and it was 2003. Second of all where the "Talent" is supposed to sign the contract..., Melette signed it, not me! So my signature is nowhere on it. I have filed complaints with the AZ Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission. I hope you all do too!
