Ripoff, misleading consumers, taking advantage of children and their parents

I also was taken advantage of Bruce Romberg and his staff. This was several years ago, I lived in Phoenix and had a 5 year old son. I saw a commercial on tv for Starbiz looking for child models. I took my son there for his "interview" and spent about three minutes with the director who took a polaroid shot and exclaimed how beautiful my son was. She said that they were looking for 3 kids and after they were done with all of the interviews, I could call them the next day. I called and guess what? My son was picked. I was so excited. I was told to bring $685.00 for his "photo shoot, portfolio" the next day and sign the contract. When I went in, I was told that with my sons blonde hair, tan and big blue eyes he would make "thousands per month" they could keep him very, very busy. I thought, what a great way to start a college fund for him. I paid the fee, signed the paperwork and set up an appointment for a shoot. The shoot was at the clothing store whose clothes are used in this "magazine". I was not impressed. Never, ever heard a word after that so I called Bruce and amazingly enough, his pictures were "lost" but they would redo them for free. Then they were "amazingly found" when I became upset.

To this day we have never received a modeling job, a magazine shot, a phone call nor the "portfolio" I paid for. I have called Bruce many times but he is a rude, arrogant jerk. I finally filed a complaint with the better business bureau but guess what "Starbiz" is a member so that got brushed under the mat but was never resolved. I am out 685.00, my son still asks, remember that money I was going to make being a model? What happened? We have been SCAMMED!!
