Nextel Communications
Overcharged on cancellation of services

I had a contract, originally, with Nextel to provide wrieless services beginning October. After the contract period, I chose to go month by month, at the approval of the Nextel rep.
This continued until fall when I chose to cancel the services.
I was an investor in Nextel dating to 1993. I was loyal, and chose to buy Nextel services to support the company, rather than cheaper services from another provider. I rode the price wave from $ 35/share to $ 9/share and back again. Up and down. I was satisfied with the phone service and treatment when problem solving.
When I cancelled the service around the end of November, first week in December, I had a $ 40 credit from the previous month. I paid two months at a time due to billing cycle incompatibility with my payment cycle. The service was cut off next day. I thought I would receive a bill for around $ 50, that being the remainder of one month's invoice. Maybe a bit more for some extra days. The total bills received before the cut of was $ 75-90 per month.
The final bill arrived stating I owed $ 195.00. I called, emailed and received no satisfaction. That year, I heard that Nextel was being sued for improper billing practices.
I finally sent the remaining $ 50 last month to settle what I thought I owed. Last week, I received a call from a beligerent collection rep who would not listen. I hung up and received a bill from his agency, First Revenue Assurance, for the total amount. No one gave me credit for the voluntary $ 50 I sent in.
Anyone in North Carolina having the same experience, get in touch. Let's do something.
