Asked for gift receipt but was denied a couple times

I was shopping at the Hollister at South Shore Plaza in MA during christmas season for a friend and asked that I wanted a gift box and gift recieve. The boy was polite and confirmed saying that you want a gift receipt and box correct which i replied correct. I saw him put the box and receipt in bag and I left. When I got home I found out that I only had my original receipt. There was no gift receipt and the box he gave me was no big enough to accomodate both the sweater and t-shirt. I was already angry but I let it going thinking that the boy must have had a hard time during christmas season.
Unfortunately my friend told me that the shirt and sweater was too big so I went back a second time bringing my receipt to get the gift receipt. The cashier told me kindly that it has been more than one day and I would not be able to get a gift receipt. So I asked my friend to give me the clothes back so I could return it for her and get her a smaller size. She asked that I also get her a gift receipt incase the other size didnt fit. So the third time I went back aand exchanged for a smaller size asking for a gift receipt. The cashier said sure at first but later told me that because it was an exchange he wasn't able to get me a gift receipt. As i was leaving the store I realize that i should just return entirely and on a separate transaction buy it again so I could get a gift receipt. The last girl had such a bad attitude. I told her that I wanted a return. After she returned the clothes then I asked her to purchase the clothes. I understand that there was a long line behind me but I needed the gift receipt. That girl told me that I didn't need to return and purchase it. She could have given me the gift receipt without returning and buying on separate transactions and that I should have told her beforehand that I wanted a gift receipt that i was taking up her time for making her do the separate transaction. Miss, I had to go back to the store multiple times to get a gift receipt. Each time there was a problem that prevented me from getting a gift receipt and finally the employee didn't acknowledge that it was their problem for not getting me a gift receipt in the first place instead it was my problem for not informing her that i wanted a gift receipt. I didn't ask her because another employee had told me i wasn't able to get one
