Ripoff Will Not Deliver Until a Week Before Wedding

I was one of 10 bridesmaids in an August 21 wedding. We ordered the dresses on February 11 and according to the store, the order was faxed to the manufacturer in March. Because I lived outside the Pittsburgh area, I also paid for the dress to be shipped to me in order to allow time for any alternations that might be needed.in June, we had not received any word on the dresses, so several of us began calling the store to inquire as to a delivery date.

I (as was others in the party) was informed that the dresses would not arrive until a month before the "wear date" (which was later denied by the sales person) and that they would inform the bride when they came in. I waited until July 21 and again called the store to inquire as to when the dresses would arrive and was told that they had not come in from the manufacturer, but they would notify the bride. On August 3rd, I called again and was once again inform that they were not in, but they would check. I did receive a call back at 8:50 P.M. That evening informing me that they would be in the store no later that Friday of that week (August 6th) and that a message was left on the bride's answering machine (which it was).

The following Monday, I called the store to confirmed that my dress had been shipped, the sales person checked the records and said they were in the warehouse in Altoona (which is only 2 hours away from the Monroeville store). On Wednesday when I had not received my dresses I call the customer service number and left a message, which they returned the next day during working hours and could not be reached in the evening, and I also sent an e-mail to their web site, which was never answered. On Saturday, August 14, the ladies that lived in town went to the Monroeville store demanding a refund for their dresses only to find out Wedding World has a no refund policy. The dresses were in Altoona they waited in the store until they arrived at 5:30P.M. Mine, according to the store manager, was not in the lot and had been shipped. On Monday, August 16, I received a call that my dress was shipped that morning and would arrive sometime on Wednesday, someone would have to be home to accept delivery or it would be returned.

I informed them that I could not take a day off to wait for a dress to be delivered (one that should have been delivered months ago) and to have them deliver it late or leave it without signature. The dress was on the porch when I arrived home, needed alterations (which was expensive to have done overnight work as I was leaving for Pittsburgh the next day) and needed to be steamed to get all the wrinkles out. It should not take any company 5-6 months to deliver a dress and if so, they should inform the customers ahead of time! I have done business with other "reputable" bridal shops in the Pittsburgh area where orders were placed in January/February and their hanging in your closet in May/June, tailored and wrinkle free!

Wish we had read this web site before going to Wedding World. To avoid a lot of unnecessary stress, Ladies, please go elsewhere!
