AT&T Wireless
Caution when porting your number to another carrie

Shops, Products, Services

I recently ported my number from AT&T Wireless to Verizon Wireless. About a month after the switch I found that I could not make or receive calls, I got a recording saying the number was not in service. Knowing that I had just loaded a $50 airtime card to the account I knew there was a problem.

When I contacted Verizon they informed me that AT&T deactivated the number, that they may have deactivated a whole block of numbers and they could do that since the number was originally an AT&T number.

So after having the same wireless number for 4 years and going through the trouble of having the number ported I had to get a new number anyway and contact everyone I know about the number change.

Of course AT&T denied that they had anything to do with it.
