Always Blames the customer when Fed Ex screws Up

I placed an order with an online company and received the product via Fed EX. Unfortunately, the product was not as described and I called the company to get return information. As it had been shipped to me via FedEX, I made the mistake of retrning via FedEX. I went online, opened a FedEX account, entered a COMPLETE description of the box to be picked up - dimensions, weight etc. I chose ground deleivery as it was cheapest. According to the computer, the charge would be 50.00. Fed Ex did not pick up the package the next day. I called FedEX and arranged for a pickup on the phone. The customer service rep qoted a rate of 30.00 for the shipping.

The next day the package was not picked as Fed Ex had sent out an express truck, not a ground truck. I again called and the box was picked up on the third try. Then I got my credit card statement. 153.00 was charged for the box. I called Fed Ex and was told that yes that was correct, that any charges quoted on the internet are just estimates. They had charged me for an oversize charge even though the initial internet order placed by me required that I give the dimensions of the box! One week later I cam home and found the box on my door step. It had been reurned as the original shipping label was missing rom the label holder. I called Fed Ex.

I am responsible for the label missing even though I was not in possession of the box when the label went missing. There was tracking info on the box, but no one called me to verify the address it was being shipped to. It is all my fault, and if you read on page 15 of the fine print of the sender's agreement, you will see that all problems associated with shipping items via FedEx are the fault of the shipping individual, not of the shipper, Fed EX. So, I have been charged 153.00 for not shipping a box I was originally told would cost 30.00. I have spoken to my credit card company. We spent 45 minutes on a conference call trying to get resolution and the best FedEX could come up with a 20% discount for not having shipped my package.
