Ripoff Holds Customers Hostage by Delaying Phone Number Portability Atlanta Georgia

Although as consumers of wireless service we are now allowed to move our existing wireless number from one carrier to another, AT&T Wireless takes advantage of consumers by unnecessarily prolonging the time needed to make a switch in order to extract more fees from them. AT&T Wireless holds their exiting customers hostage purely for monetary gain.
More than two weeks in advance of the close of our billing cycle we requested a change in service from AT&T to T-Mobile. We were informed by an AT&T representative via phone, with a T-Mobile agent present, that the switch to our new carrier using our existing phone number would take 7 days or less.in fact that switch in service took more than 14 days, resulting in initiation of a new monthly cycle with AT&T. This resulted in our receiving a bill for a full month of service with AT&T Wireless - even though they provided only 2 and 1/2 days of service before allowing us to move on to T-Mobile.
This practice holds the consumer hostage. Although other wireless carriers successfully release their former clients in 7 days or less, AT&T Wireless deliberately delays requests for change in carriers in order to charge for another full month of service. This practice is followed because AT&T's published policies are to bill for a full month of service regardless of when that service was terminated. We, as consumers, made a good faith effort to change carriers in a timely fashion. AT&T did nothing more than line their pockets with by using delay tactics to benefit the corporation while doing financial harm to their former clients.
