Services ATT Wireless lost towers in my area and now my phone does not work PERIOD, and I still have to keep my contract!

I origionally started service with ATT Wireless when I lived in Texas approximately 6 years ago. My husbands work transferred him to Missouri and we transferred our service because we loved our phones and never had any problems.

We lived in the area for approximately 6 months when all the sudden our phones quit working. I mean, really quit working. You could not even call 611 (ATTWS) for an explanation. As soon as I got home, I tried to call ATT Wireless and ask if the service was down for some reason. They said yes and it should be back up soon. Well, I waited about 3-4 days and called every day. I received the same response each time I called.

I eventually found out that ATT lost the tower in my county. So, I am stuck with a phone that whenever I try to dial a number, it tells me that I need to input a credit card number. One of the two phones we had had a contract that would have expired within the month. But, the other one we had just renewed. So, we have had the phone for the last 5 months and could only use it when we traveled to a neighboring county. This means that I have to travel over 25 miles to get a signal to even use the phone, period!

I have called ATT Wireless and mentioned this to them, it seems they really do not care about anything I think.
If I cancel my service, I have to pay a early disconnect fee of 175.00.

I stuck to my contract, but they havn't. I would like to know why I can not get out of my contract whenever the problem is with ATT, not myself.
I even tried to change the phone number so no one will call the voice mail and leave a message that we can not retrieve, but they wanted to charge me 25.00 to change the phone number. I asked for a supervisor and they told me that supervisors are not available.

I asked for a customer complaint person or address for one and they told me that they do not provide that service. I could not even get the representative to give me her name and operator or location number, she refused to give me that information and eventually hung up on me and said that I was being rude. I called right back and just suspended the service for now until I can figure out what I need to do.

I literally can not use the phone for any reason. All I really want to do is cut my losses and move to a different cellular company who does provide service for my county. I do not feel I should have to pay the early disconnection fee.
