Infuriating customer service - Kohl's Credit Card

I had a very frustrating experience with Kohls' credit representative Erika (employer ID TK77345) today. I had a payment due on my credit card 5/12. I worked late & wasn't able to get to the store, which is the way I usually pay. I went there first thing on 5/13 & paid my balance in full. Still, I was charged a $25 late fee and. 50 in finance charges. I have been a Kohls' credit customer since 1992. I called the 800 number on the bill (also on their website) since I don't think that charge is fair. Erika, the customer service rep, was patronizing and denigrating. I had to hear her explain that the payment was due on 5/12 & paying on 5/13 was wrong. She asked for a specific reason that I paid late. I thought she was kidding. Since when do I have to give an excuse? I could tell that she was younger than my own children. I really don't feel that after a nearly 20-yr credit history with Kohls & never having had a late payment before, that I shouldn't have been subject to this kind of lecture. Clearly she was working from a script, but life is not scripted & these reps should be instructed differently. My credit score is over 800. And I don't need to shop at Kohls. They have lost me as a customer & they'll lose others if their credit department continues to treat Kohls customers this way.
