Number they gave does not work

They set me up a bogus number, told me me to give it to my loved one in jail, i did and now it wont work and has never worked..
When I call to complain I get the most hateful man on the other end, says I am NOT doing it right.
I ask for a refund and they start getting irate, this company needs to be shut down... I wasted 34.98...
I am mad as heck.
