Steve Westfall gave me a proposal to remove a fallen tree in my backyard for $2,500. He came and destroyed my backyard while removing the tree with his tractor. Then he asked me to give him half of the proposal in cash. When I refused, he asked me to write the check to him personally and not to Strikeforce Tree Service.
I paid him half of the proposal, less the $500 deductible, with a check written to Steve Westfall. When I filed with my insurance company for reimbursement, they called Strikeforce Tree Service, and Jim Westfall said that I had paid him $800 and not $1,000. He also said that the entire job was $800. Fortunately I was able to retrieve a copy of my check to Steve Westfall for $1,000 to document the work with my insurance company.
Due to the confusion, State Farm Insurance would not reimburse me for the work. I was told by my insurance company to hire a lawyer and sue them.
