This complaint is regarding SEARS.

I've been a SEARS customer for 30 years & have carried their credit card as one part of my consumer credit. This complaint only has to do with their phone marketing (harassment).

After just purchasing an entire kitchen worth of appliances and having them delivered and installed, we began getting computer generated phone calls asking if we would "participate in a customer satisfaction survey." We opted not to bother. Several of those calls were recorded on our residential answering machine.

Then, we began getting calls from "800 Services: 800-927-2291" in which no message was left but there would be a pause on the speaker of the answering machine & then a hang up. The calls were at different times, and different days of the week, and never a message.

I googled the number to reverse it and found dozens of complaints from other people getting the same calls. Various people had identified the company responsible as SEARS who was "selling extended warranties for appliances." Some people were misinformed & stated that the calls were "illegal" when, in fact, they are not IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED SOMETHING FROM SEARS WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS. There is a two year window after conducting business with a company that it can call you and still be legal despite the "National Do Not Call List." A few posts were accurate, though, and provided the information needed to put a stop to the harassment calls.

The actual physical location of the company, as I discovered through other angry consumers, is:

But the way I actually got action was to call the SEARS NATIONAL Customer Service Center at:
1-800-549-4505. You have to fake their computer out & say you're interested in buying something or having something repaired... Then... When you get an actual SEARS employee on the phone, explain that you are tired of the marketing phone calls & need to put a stop to it. Request, nicely, that they all the company & request for you. The rep that I spoke to got the telemarketing company on the phone at the same time as she was speaking to me & then turned me over to the telemarketing rep.

They ask for your name, physical address, phone number, and "block all calls?" I asked how long it took to become effective and was told "immediately." I thanked the rep because it wasn't his fault... Its the owner of his company in conspiracy with SEARS that is to blame.

SEARS... If you read this... Is it really worth the $ you get from selling your extended warranties to damage your reputation like this??? When I said NO to the extended warranty in the store when I bought the appliances, thats what I meant. Thats what other consumers mean, too. NO.

Is it really worth the $ to trash the reputation of SEARS so that consumers like myself must post this type of rebuttal to your unwanted sales tactics???

You people are nearly as untrustworthy as the Realtors.
