Denied payment on validated insurance claim Las Vegas

Shops, Products, Services

I mailed 3 antique vases from NY to my address in Las Vegas. I packaged each vase in individual boxes, wrapped in bubble wrap and place all 3 in one box with bubble wrap and popcorn to fill the gaps. I bought $500 insurance on my items.

When I received my box and opened it I discovered that all 3 vases were destroyed. I took the whole thing over to the Crossroads Station Post Office and showed my items to a gentleman named Ray who told me I would have to surrender my items in order to receive a refund. I told Ray there were family heirlooms and if I can have them repaired I would need them to get an estimate. He informed me I could do that and to bring back the estimate along with an appraisal for thge value of the vases and the claim form filled out.

I had an estimate done by a local antique restoration shop and I got an estimate for the vases which was right around the $500 value in which I had insured them for. I brought everything back to the post office and turned in all my forms. My claim form was signed and validated by a postal employee (it was an Asian female) and a copy given to me.

1 week later they called me and told me they would be processing my claim. After about a month I recieved a letter in the mail denying my claim. It stated that their was "no proof of damage to my items" and no "evidence". I sent a rebuttle and included the receipt for my insurance as well as the copy of the claim form (Form 1000) that they gave me which was signed and approved by a post office employee and cleary stated that "all packaging and contents were fully inspected" and "all contents were damaged".

After another month of waiting my claim was denied again. They stated that I did not give them any proof that my items were damaged and that I did not have my items inspected my them EVEN THOUGH I HAVE AN OFFICIAL SIGNED DOCUMENT stating it WAS inspected by them and they witnesss all the contents were damaged. I took my complaint all the way to the Post Master in Washington, DC and they still refused to pay on my claim. My vase repairs cost well over $1000. They had been in my family for 100 years. I was devastated to have them carlessly crushed by the post office and it was just a rude slap in the face to have them deny my claim which I rightfully paid for and deserved. It is clear to me that their insurance is nothing but a scam. It seems obvious that they have no intentions of paying on insurance claims. I

T's a complete rip off that we are charged increasing postal fees to have our mail shipped yet without any gurantees of it arriving safely. It cost me $50 to mail my package and an extra $7 for insurance. It's like I basically paid the Post Office $57 to destroy my most precious items.insurance is a lie and a scam. They will do everything they can to NOT pay your claim even if you have indisputable proof, and there is nothing you can do because they are the US government.
