Total Protection Plus, LLC# Billed for unauthorized service ($12.95) from Total Protection Plus, LLC# by AT&T on monthly bill. Dallas Texas

I always check my monthly bill from AT&T and noticed an unauthorized charge of $12.95 from Total Protection Plus, LLC# for Total Proctection PLUS VMail that was charged to our home number on July 17. I immediately called AT&T on 8/9/08 and spoke with an AT&T representative who would not explain to me WHO authorized this charge on my account. After much banter back and forth, they are going to issue a credit to my account, but wasted an hour of my time.

Apparently AT&T allows anyone to charge anything to your home phone number BUT asked me personal information, e.G., name, address, phone number, etc. Before they would even talk to me. Go figure.
This is indeed a SCAM and everyone should carefully examine all bills before paying for anything.
