Got Tackled By over Zealous Retired Military Security Guard When Security Buzzer Rang

I went shopping at Walmart, my mistake I know. I had a grocery cart full of bagged goods, clothes and such. I was with my Husband and 2 year old daughter They were Eating outside waiting for me. Of course it is really busy there. I went to exit the store and the alarms sounded. The man who was sitting at the stool with Walmart vest on Jumped up and tackled me. I have a bruise on my face and scratches on my arms and legs. All it was, was the cashier had forgotten to take of the security tag from a pair of pants I bought. Isn't being tackled to the ground illegal??? I don't know where to start. Please help me!
