Purse - security dept

In march my wife went to walmart and saw an un-attended purse on the bench at the entrance. She put the purse in her cart to take to the customer service desk. She started talking to employees and completely forgot about the purse. She went through checkout and security accused her of stealing the purse and had her arrested. This entire incident could have been avoided if security had simply said "excuse me but did you see a purse on the bench'We have had to hire a lawyer and the entire incident has been a nightmare for my wife who is 69 years old. Someone needs to teach security to show some common sense instead of treating everyone who comes into the store like they are there to do something wrong.
