My husband and I rented from UHR, and when we rented from them made sure that payments were to be every two weeks when my husband got paid. We paid for two weeks, but the very next week we thought was paid Steve from UHR called and asked when we were coming in to make a payment. My husband told him we would come in when the payment was due the next week.

This continued for about about 6 months so we quit answering the phone every week not believing that they hadn't yet figured out the payment schedule even though it was in their computer that way. I guess they were so used to payments every week they got confused. First, they called my husband's and my cell phone even though we told them not to. Second, they called upwards of six times a day. Then they started calling from a private line because they knew we recognized their number when it showed up on our phones to try to get us to answer.

I worked for a collection agency who was a stickler for following the Federal Debt Collection Act to the letter. I know that once a message is left we were under NO circumstances allowed to call the debtor again in the same day, yet UHR left multiple messages in a single day. They called my husband at work so many times the company had to order them to stop. I also know that when someone says not to call their cell anymore by law you have to comply, and again they refused to stop. They even text messaged him instead of calling.

We talked to one manager and he said that we owed over 240$ for being late. Later we talked to a different person and he said that we only owed 150$, and this happened 30 minutes after the first conversation.

My son ended up in the hospital at the end of January, and we did get behind. Uhr showed up at the door, and we told them that my husband got paid at the end of the week. They told us that if we promised to file our tax return with them they would put a hold on the account so we could keep the merchandise. We signed the paper to do that under the impression that by promising to do that there would be a freeze on late fees. We were wrong. We kept our end and did what we said, but they charged the late fees anyway. DO NOT under any circumstances rent from this company.
