Very Poor Experience

I hired SJN Electric to update the electrical service at a home in the Metro East area. The house was empty and had a sales contract on it. His work failed the 100 amp inspection.

His workers damaged floors and walls beyond what was reasonable to fish wires.instead of cutting out sections of the floor, his workers pulled up floor boards and broke them leaving huge holes in the floor. All the construction mess was left in the house as well as the worker's personal trash. The workers threw their meal wrappers, drink containers, papers etc. On the floor instead of using a trash can or taking it with them.

When the work was "complete" and ready for its final inspection, I was shocked by the condition of the house. I called Steve and complained about the condition of the house and that certain work that he said he would do was not completed. He didn't call me back. The next day I called again and asked why he hadn't returned my phone call, he said he only returned phone calls to people who "treated him with respect" he then called me a "pain in the a*" and demanded his money. I asked him if he would at least look at what I was complaining about and he agreed - but never did.

After he failed the second inspection (left active wiring in that was clearly prohibited) indicating that either he didn't know the electrical code of the area (as all licensed electricians should) or left it in purposely to cut job costs. I decided to hire another contractor to finish the job. The house was a mess in the areas that he worked, I certainly didn't want the house torn up more. I contacted an attorney to make sure what I did was legal. After the job was complete, I offered Steve the difference between his bid and the amount I paid the second contractor. He refused - wanted the entire bid amount.

I have wracked up home repair fees, attorney fees, personal expenses of time and money and it all could have been avoided.

He finally filed suit, but waited until it was too late for me to file suit against him for damages to the house. So, if I lose the suit I can't countersue him for the damages he caused.

Please save yourself a lot of heartache, frustration, time, and money and research this company throughly before calling them for a bid.
