Ripoff

Upon purchasing a home in Belleville, IL, in we called upon SJN Electric to update our electrical box per city codes. Steve Neumeyer gave us an estimate for the entire job. Once started we had nothing but problems with Steve and his crew. Massive holes were punched in our concrete and stucco walls to run strange wiring, outside Ameritech box was knocked off the wall, damage to new appliances including the burning of a box of personal items set on the stove by one electrician and then he turned the stove on at the breaker box. Appliances were brand new and not even hooked up. Loss of our tools. Worst of all our house failed City Inspection several times, we had to go to his office and leave copies of the failure notices and pictures taken. Final stage was when Steve had an altercation with the City Inspector in our house, packed up his crew and left, never coming back. We had to call other electricians to finish the job. We were presented with a bill 4x the estimate and we refused to pay it. Since then, almost all outlets were unusable, GFCI outlets in kitchen shorted out, had sparking outlets in other rooms and they killed my cental A/C. This past May, we had to get another permit, hire another Electrical Contractor to redo the entire house because of all the probolems. From what I hear from many contractors, this is his style and this provides work for the other electrical contractors. I have filed complaints with the City of Belleville and with the Attorney General as he is still trying to collect his first bill with interest. Our electric redo and all the repairs have far exceeded the amount of his bill. His reputation is quite bad and not to be trusted in any way.
