Scanner return refused without receipt, told store does not carry Canon

I would first like to say that since the death of Sam Walton Wal-Mart stores return policies have went to hell in a hand basket.

My girlfriend purchased for me as a early birthday present a Canon scanner from our local Wal-Mart store located at 101 Highway 60 West Mountain View, MO.

The scanner worked just fine for a couple of days than it just quit. My girl friend had lost her receipt and tried to return it to Wal-Mart the rude attendant at the service desk refused to take the scanner back claiming that my girlfriend had not purchased it at their store because they don't carry Canon products.

I've since got another scanner not from Wal-Mart and My girlfriend and I refuse to go into Wal-Mart for anything further
