Is ripoff that quietly gets rid of scanner accuracy guarantee

I went in the local K (rap)-Mart the other day (against my better judgement) and just happened to buy a can of Planters Nuts that were on "clearance", supposedly. When I got to the checkstand and the nuts rang up at full price, I inquired about the Price Accuracy Guarantee (which Wal-Mart has, and Albertsons, Target, and all other major stores I know of).

The cashier acted like I was from the moon, said "what? We don't have any policy like that!" I mentioned that they DID have that policy, at least in California where I came from. She called the manager, and when he came up to the checkstand, he already had a defiant look on his face and was very confrontational. He insisted they never had any such policy. I informed him that they did have it, but I could see no reason to shop there if THEY make an error and are unwilling to own up to it, I would take my business to Wal-Mart and will never set foot in a K-mart again. His attitude was fine, who gives a s*t and just go away. Needless to say, I left the nuts and left the store.

I called HQ in Michigan, who informed me that they got rid of the policy but wouldn't tell me when or why. I told them I would be taking my $ to Wal-mart where they respect the customer and are willing to give you the product (if less than $3, or that amount off your total bill if more than that), and I can see no reason to shop at this dump ever again. So much for "Customer Appreciation Days", huh? More like "Customer Abuse Days", I'd say.

They have dark, dirty and dumpy stores with unfriendly service, if you can find it at all, and have lousy return policies, and now NO PRICE ACCURACY GUARANTEE!!! I'll be a WAL-MART customer forever, they respect their customers and are willing to own up to their mistakes.
