S cost triple the estiment, poor packing and delivery, no response to calls for missing items ripoff

I recently moved from Connecticut to Florida. I was given a estiment for my move from united moving systems. They gave me a estiment of 2700.00 from a itemized list I had given them.

I made out my list and measured everything in my house so I would get a accurate estimate because of my limited funds. I sent them the list twice to make sure.

I had also added a motorcycle to the list. I was told a 200.00 handling fee would apply. I asked if I had to pay for cubic feet and was told the 200.00 handling fee would be all I was charged.

When they got there to load my things I had already packed up everything in plastic stackable totes. When they started loading the truck I told them where to start with all the stackable boxs. I looked in the truck and they had everyhting stacked on my computer printer which was in a small box and the totes were all on top ready to fall over. I told the man to please move the printer box and he assured me that fragil items would be placed on top.

When they were done loading the truck they didnt even know how to get the bike on the truck so I had to get a friend to do it.

After the truck was loaded I was told the total bill was 6145.00. Needless to say I was in shock. They had charged me 495.00 for packing fees and only used five boxs and god knows how many rolls of tape.

I had them call the office and I was told I had to pay that amount if I wanted my stuff. They could not unload the truck.

I called the office the day the truck was coming to see who to make the bank check out to. They told me no bank check. I said ok I will get a money order from the bank. I was told they cannot accept anything but cash or a postal money order. At that point the bank manager said that didnt seem right and it worried him.

When the truck arrived at 7:30 pm the driver said I had to pay before they unload. I said after the job was done they get there money. He said he couldnt unload it till he was paid.

I had to give him 4135.00 to unload. Then he tried to say I owed 4435.00 and showed me the receipt. His receipt was wriiten over and did not match my copy. He called the office and I said I want to talk to them but he never let me.

I almost died to see they had put my harley (a 20,000.00 bike) on the bottom of the load uncrated. There was a load on top of my bike with no protection. I was beside myself and insisted to talk to people at the office. The driver said there was no one there.

I was missing boxes and furnature and had a lot of things broken. I have tried to contact them everyday and get the same reply-they will call back. I havent received a call yet.

I had told them prior to delivery that when they loaded they didnt cover the floors and left a big mess. I told to make sure they had floor covering when they delivered. Of course they didnt. They had to move everything from the truck to my lawn then uncover it to use blankets to cover floor. They didnt get done until 12:30am.

Also the driver didnt know how to get my bike off the truck so i had to ride it off. Very scary, but I had no choice.

Needless to say I am not only out 4000.00 but half my things are missing or broken.
