False Collection claim, Harassment by mail and phone Ripoff

I felt after receiving a bogus collection letter from this company that I should investigate them with the BBB and sites such as this. WE received a collection letter this past week from these "Lawyers" that is demanding a huge amount for an account that isn't ours. When we got the letter I compared the letter information with our account numbers and amounts we owe to Creditors. Niether the Account number they had, nor the amount was ours. We wrote a letter to the company stating that the account was not ours and not to bother us further. Last night got a call from a rep at Marcadis and Associates regarding the "bogus" collection. This time told them we had sent a letter of dispute as this wasn't our account and told them by phone that the account wasn't ours. They told us they would call us back when they had figured out things on their end. Please don't call us. You sent us a bogus letter, we have responded. The end.

They have an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB and they aren't even members and I have seen a few complaints here on this site about them. I checked our credit reports the other day to make sure that we weren't the victims of ID theft and that isn't the case. Reports seem fine. There is no record of this company as the collection agency on any of our accounts.
