Trying to collect a debt for a credit card I am in good standing with!

I received a collection letter from Allied Interstate claiming that I need to pay my credit card in full. I went directly to my credit card company asking them why I was sent to collections and why I never received anything from them first instead of being sent to a Allied Interstate.

My credit card company responded quickly and sent me in an email saying that my account is in good standing and that I am a valued customer. I'm disturbed that they did't mention that Allied Interstate shouldn't have sent me a collection letter or that they weren't the ones who reported me. So will I have to pull my credit report to see if Allied Interstate is on me credit report as a collector? I hope not. If it is, my credit card company will have to correct any errors that they have made, but we all know how that goes.

Food for thought - if you receive a collection letter from Allied Interstate, call or email the original creditor first to get the facts straight. Once you do, mail a copy of the original creditors reply to Allied Interstate with their collection letter back. I wrote FRAUD all over the back and front of the letter, and wrote in the Amount Paid section ZERO!!! I then put a note at the top that my original creditor said my account was in good standing. Something should be done so that these so called collection agencies do not have access to your credit reports to see if they can trick you into paying a collection you don't owe.
