I was interested in purchasing some cat food from Petco online and so went through a purchase procedure using Google Checkout, since it potentially gives a discount. When I clicked to estimate my shipping, the purchase instead finalized and charged my credit card. Since this was over 10 dollars more than I could get the food at the store or anywhere else for that matter, I immediately sent a cancellation request. This was a Friday, so I had no reason to think that this request wouldn't be seen before shipping. I did not receive any response to my cancellation until nearly a week later, which was a canned response email stating that since they'd responded to my purchase immediately, they could not cancel it, and I could check their return policy and return the item at a store. This was perhaps 2 days at most after they'd sent a shipping confirmation, so either they flat out lied to me, or they simply did not read the cancellation for that entire period of time. Petco lists their return policy as only refunding the store price for any item bought online and will not refund the shipping costs. I sent a complaint via their website and have only received the exact same canned response.
