Ripoff lying False Promises Harrassing Rude phone call

Shops, Products, Services

A Salesman calls promising to consolodate all my magazine orders into one mony saving account if I just order Time Magazine from him. I say I want something in writing. He promises I will recieve a confirmation packet in 3 - 5 days. He says I can cancel for any reason in within that 5 days and gives me a number to call. He also promises I will recieve a certificate for a $1000.00 online shopping spree with my confirmation packet. On the 5th day I still have not recieved this confirmation packet so I call to cancel. The rep apologizes and promises to extend my opportunity to cancel until I recieves the packet. I say I just want out. Then he promises to give me a discount.

Originally I was to pay 15 payments of 58.27 and he reduces it to 15 payments of $39.95. I tell him I agree only if I receve that confirmation packet and made sure to mention in their recording. On August 9th they billed my credit card for $58.27. Another two weeks or so goes by and still I recieve no confirmation packet, or magazines. I call again to cancel, they put me through to a supervisor who tries to hold it over my head that I agreed to pay for the order and that they recorded it.

I reminded her that my agreement was contingent upon recieving the confirmation packet, signing, and returning it. I also asked about the discount and she says she has no record of that. She, Ashley, promises to look into it and call me back. Eventually two Time Magazines, a Better Homes, and Woman's Day arrive. So does a bill for $58.27 as well as reminder card from International reader's League. Weeks go by and I get phone call from a rep asking about the payment of $58.27. I tell the rep that I was supposed to billed for $39.95, and that I have yet to recieve a confirmation packet or a call back from Ashley.

She interrupts me to tell me I am supposed to pay $58.27 and hangs up. So I called the 800 number and got Ashley. I asked her why she did not call me back. She says something vague about her supervisor and his supervisor and says she was going to call me. I tell her I want out, that I have wanted out since I was still within my original 5 days to cancel. She won't work with me. She says she will look into it and call me back. I end up calling again later and informing I will write this report, which I am also sending to the BBB. I will not pay the bill. They can keep the $58.27 they billed to my credit card for the 4 magazines I have recieved so far. I ask her not to send anything else. Today is October 12th. I never recieved a confirmation packet.
