Ripoff dishonest magazine sales college student

Shops, Products, Services

A charming young man presenting himself as a GI Bill college student from Indiana knocked on my door today selling magazines. He told me that the sales were tax deductible to support college expenses. Hesitantly, I purchased a Disney magazine (I know better!), based on his description of the magazine. He told me that 20 wipe-off books would be shipped to my door within 4 weeks.

I later looked the magazine up on the web and found it to be completely different. It's a monthly magazine with no wipe-off feature. It's also for older kids than he indicated.

Also, there is no mention on the receipt of it being tax deductible.

I called the phone number listed and it is not being answered. I also found a lot of complaints online about this company. A reverse search of the phone number did not produce anything either.

I have now put a stop payment on the check based on all of the above. I also contacted my local Sherriff's Dept to see if they can stop this guy from ripping off other neighbors. This really appears to be a scam.

Don't make the same mistake i did!
