Home Discovery
Ripoff junk realty company false advertising, massive company layoffs run by call center idiots and frat boys

Shops, Products, Services

This new company called Home Discovery was an absolute joke. First off, they claim to sell homes for only 2 percent commission. What they DON'T tell you is that the 2 percent is only THEIR Commission, they still pay the other real estate agent 2% as well, which adds up to 4%. Plus, in addition, they force you to use their title company, they force you to buy a home warranty, (EVEN IF YOUR HOUSE ALREADY HAS ONE!), they charge you an MLS listing fee, and they force you to pay all the title costs, even the BUYERS OWN TITLE INSURANCE! So is it two percent? Let's do the math!

$200,000 house

2% to other agent= $4,000
2% to HomeDiscovery= $4,000
MLS Listing Fee= $300
Junk Warranty = $400
All Title Company Fees= $4,000

Approaching $13,000 in fees, thats not 2%, thats 6.5%! FALSE ADVERTISING!

On top of this, they're sales agents arent even REALTORS! Sure, they might be state licensed, but they aren't required to belong to any local, state or national realtor organizations. THEY'RE SALES FORCE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ACCESS TO MLS!!!

Home Discovery is nothing more than call center real estate. It's run by a bunch of frat boys and sorority girls looking intoa quick way to get rich. Add this to a bunch of call center rejects from Geico and Citi who are trying to run the place. They just layed off close to 130 of their 200 person workforce! They told all these people that "this is the wave of the future! Oh this is so exciting!" but of course their business model is horribly flawed.

Traditional Realtors take the time to deliver personal service. They not only list sell your home, but they also work hard to find you the new home. HomeDiscovery could care less about any of this, they just filled their inventory full of overpriced homes, could care less where the people bought their new houses.

Home Discovery is only interested in the easy part of real estate, thats the listing. Anyone can stick a house on MLS. Taking the time to find people their new home, thats where a Real Estate Professional earns their money.

Home Discovery is one of the most unprofessional real estate companies anyone could ever go with. Everytime you call you talk to someone different. No one has personal accountability to anything. Everyone there makes $30,000 a year, no one is interested in selling your home.

They recently recieved a large sum of money from the owner of OutBack, and as of right now my guess is he pulled out. They are on the brink of closing down.

Considering some of the hijinks and shens they've pulled, like the "List your home for only $252! We get $250, the other realtor gets $2! Hahahah" this place deserves to go down in flames. Find a professional realty company, not an inexperienced group of goofballs like Home Discovery
